Sports are chaotic.

Trust me, I’ve been there. when you get injured, the chaos can only make things worse. All of a sudden you can’t do what you love, you start to lose connection with your teammates and you’re doing the same 6 exercises that everyone else is doing but you just don’t get better. somewhere between the rushed appointments, the generic protocols and the providers that see you but don’t SEE you, it starts to feel like you don’t know who you are anymore.

I know what it’s like to lose yourself in all of the noise and self doubt. I spent my whole life chasing my dream job of working in the NBA. Once I got there, I realized it wasn’t what I thought it was. The system that I worked my whole life to get into wasn’t built for what I truly cared about: helping athletes get results through intentional and individualized care.

That’s what Teahouse Athletic Training and Rehab is: a place where you are seen as a unique individual and not just your diagnosis. Because you are not your injury. You are a human being with goals, a story and a body that deserves better than what traditional sports medicine can offer you. Whether you’re looking to get back to the game you love, increase your performance, or determine what the next steps are for you, I’ll help you along the path.

  • “I worked with Sawyer through multiple injuries in college including a back injury and a torn ACL and in every situation he demonstrated not only a deep clinical knowledge but also genuine care and dedication to my recovery. What stood out most was his ability to tailor my rehab program to my specific needs while keeping me motivated and confident throughout the process. His attention to detail and commitment to proper technique made a significant difference in my progress and overall outcome. Sawyer created an environment of trust and support. He pushed me when I needed it but always with my long-term health in mind. I’m incredibly grateful for the role he played in my recovery and would recommend him to any athlete looking for knowledgeable, compassionate, and result driven care.”

Lauren Redfern, Marietta College Women’s Lacrosse

  • “I had suffered a lateral meniscus tear and made the difficult decision to have a full repair. This meant that I was going to be on crutches for 6-8 weeks and that I wouldn’t be able to play basketball for 4-6 months. Fortunately for me, my new athletic trainer was Sawyer. We clicked instantly. He was so kind, energetic and excited to work with me, it eased my worries. He walked me through each step of my rehab plan, what it would look like, what we would do and, most importantly for me, why. He approached each day with the same positive energy. At that point in time, I was struggling both mentally and physically. It was a low point for me. Sawyer’s presence in my life helped me get through.

During my rehab, I got to the point when it was time to try running again. I was so scared because I hadn’t run since before my surgery. That day, Sawyer knew I was struggling and did my rehab alongside me. He ran with me every step of the way, encouraging me and cheering me on. I don’t know if he realized it at the time but that moment meant the world to me. It helped me realize that I wasn’t doing this on my own, he was going to be there to support me.

I could go on and on about my experience and I cannot speak enough about how amazing it was to be able to do my rehab with Sawyer. He truly is the best, not only as an athletic trainer but as a person as well. There is no one else I could have trusted more with my rehab.”

Lianna Baxter, Oakland University Women’s Basketball

  • “Sawyer supported me through everything, rehab, injury prevention, and post surgery recovery. He had the ability to guide me all the way back to match fitness while always keeping my long-term health a priority. Beyond the physical side, Sawyer also had a big impact on my mental space, he made a difficult process feel manageable and kept me confident and motivated throughout. He’s not only the best trainer I’ve had the pleasure of working with but also just a great human being who genuinely cares about the people he works with. I would highly recommend Sawyer to any program, athlete, or anyone looking to better themselves. He’s knowledgeable, experienced and truly invested in his patient’s success.”

Gabe Baylon, Oakland University Men’s Soccer

  • “In my time working with Sawyer, I enjoyed his approach to taking care of his athletes. Personally, while I never had a major injury, Sawyer helped me feel my best every day due to his ability to address problems quickly and efficiently. He goes a step further by educating athletes on the importance of doing extra work to manage themselves and examples of what can be beneficial. As an athlete, it’s important to know that you’ll be taken care of and validated. Sawyer does well with both and I’m glad I got to work with him.”

Maddy Skorupski, University of Wisconsin Green Bay Women’s Basketball
